Monet Bagneris:

Monet Bagneris is a warm-spirit that has deep passions for health and wellness, music and theater, and the emotional, spiritual, and physical care of children.  A graduate of the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine with a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Studies, Monet recognizes the importance of protecting the lives of the most vulnerable of our population—children.  As a research assistant for the USC Transitions study, a study on the effect of puberty on insulin resistance in Latina and African American girls, Monet gained experience in research.  She has also served at the Pasadena Department of Public Health and translated brochures into Spanish.  In 2007, Monet traveled to Honduras with the USC Global Medical Brigades to provide Spanish medical translation for doctors that serviced over 600 Hondurans in some of the most impoverished communities. In 2010, Monet served as Miss City of Inglewood for the Miss America Organization with the personal platform of, “Their Life, Your Hands: Promoting Healthy Lifestyles for our Children.”  During this time, Monet helped recruit the City of Pasadena into the statewide Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) campaign backed by the League of California Cities and the California Center for Public Health Advocacy. It is Monet’s firm belief that, “children truly are our future, their longevity and fulfillment of life is at our fingertips, and it is up to us to break the chain of childhood obesity and poor decision-making that has plagued our society.”

In 2012, Monet served as Miss Los Angeles County and partnered with numerous organizations. Keeping the same personal platform, Monet desired to reach as many of the 88 cities within Los Angeles County as possible to spread messages of healthy lifestyles and encouragement.  From her knowledge of the childhood obesity epidemic and other challenges on the rise, it was imperative for her to spread the importance of staying physically active, eating healthy, and maintaining a positive attitude and self-image.
